Curtains are the necessities of our homes. In addition to being multifunctional, they are also important decorations in our homes. Therefore, when purchasing, we will choose some exquisite and beautiful styles to put in the room as beautiful scenery.

However, even the most beautiful and stain-resistant curtains will inevitably become old and dusty after hanging for a long time.

According to incomplete statistics, people who are particularly fond of cleanliness wash their curtains twice a year when the seasons change; most people are expected to wash the curtains once during the general cleaning during the New Year and festivals. Of course, some only wash them once a year or two, and some may even wash their curtains in their new homes. I haven't washed it since...

Today, Xiaojia will tell you how to maintain the curtains, how often to wash them, and how to clean them.

Curtain Maintenance

Basic curtain care work in daily life: use a feather duster to gently flick the dust on the curtains every week, and use a vacuum cleaner to gently absorb the dust on it every month.

Do not dry the curtains directly in the washing machine after cleaning, please simply dehydrate them. The purpose of this is to keep the curtains in their original texture, color, and size.

Directly drying curtains, the texture of curtain fabrics is easily damaged, and the beauty and feel will be affected. When cleaning, first put a little salt in the water, soak for 30 minutes, and then add laundry detergent to clean.

Do not use washing powder directly to wash it. Now many washing powders have a little bleach in them. Using washing powder to wash curtains directly may cause the curtains to fade.

Curtain Cleaning

Curtains cannot be washed frequently, because this will affect their original beauty, feel, texture, drape, warmth, shading, and service life.

If the curtain is fluffy, it is recommended to clean it once a year, and ordinary cotton curtains are recommended to be cleaned once every 2-3 years.

Ordinary fabric

Curtains made of ordinary fabrics are easier to handle. They can be scrubbed with a damp cloth, or they can be washed in water or in a washing machine with a neutral detergent according to the conventional method.

Electrostatic flocking/flannel fabric

These curtains are less prone to soiling and do not require frequent cleaning. But if you want to clean it, you need to be careful, just wipe it gently with a cotton gauze dipped in alcohol or gasoline.

If the flannel is too wet, do not twist it too hard to prevent the fluff from falling off. The correct cleaning method should be: to use your hands to remove moisture or let it dry naturally so that the original appearance of the flocked fabric can be maintained.

Velvet curtain

To clean such curtains, first, soak the curtains in a neutral cleaning solution, press lightly with your hands, wash them, and place them on a slanted shelf, so that the water can naturally drip dry so that the curtains will be clean as new.

Canvas or linen curtains

This kind of curtain is more difficult to dry after cleaning, so it should not be washed directly in water. You should use a sponge dipped in warm water, soapy water, or a mixture of ammonia solution for wiping, and then roll it up after drying.

Roller curtain

First, pull down the dirty roller curtains, flatten them, and wipe them with a cloth. The center of the rollers is usually empty. You can use a long stick with fluff at one end to go in and keep rotating to remove the dust.

The curtains have been hung for a long time, and allergens such as dust and mold are easy to hide on them, especially families with allergic rhinitis and asthma patients should be more careful.

After reading so much, I believe that everyone has a general understanding of the cleaning of curtains and when to wash them. Quickly find the most suitable method for you, and let us live a healthier life together.
